Course Description

This course introduces allied health students to Electronic Health Records which have largely replaced paper-based patient records in the healthcare industry. An Electronic Health Record (EHR) can include a variety of health-related information (accessible online) about a human being through time and across body systems. In this course, students complete various common medical office tasks using a cloud-based EHR system.

Learning Objectives

  1. Demonstrate the completion of common front-office workflow steps within an EHR.
  2. Demonstrate the completion of common clinical-care workflow steps within an EHR.
  3. Demonstrate the completion of common coding-and-billing workflow steps within an EHR.

Educational Resources

This course is based on SimChart for the Medical Office (cloud-based sandbox) and SimChart for the Medical Office: Learning the Medical Office Workflow. It is delivered via the NTI Canvas LMS.
