Course Description

This course combines classroom instruction and hands on clinical activities to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience. This course covers the clinical instruction portion of the MLA program. Clinical instructions provides hands-on training of the procedures and skills necessary for assisting the physician and working in the lab.

Learning Objectives

  1. Practice medical lab assistant skills
  2. Demonstrate competencies in venipuncture, butterfly, and syringe methods, capillary blood collection, electrocardiography with basic interpretation, and infection control.
