Course Description

This course introduces allied health students to pharmacology, the branch of biology that studies how molecules interact with cells, tissue, organs, and organ systems within the human body. These molecules are commonly called drugs or, if they have medicinal properties, pharmaceuticals.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain why specific drugs are prescribed for health problems.
  2. Describe how different drugs work to induce their intended responses.
  3. Explain critical actions and assessments performed before and after administering drugs.
  4. Explain which points are most important to teach patients related to their drug therapy.
